Follow this step by step guide to configure Citrix Receiver to connect to XenDesktop 7 StoreFront site.

Install Citrix Receiver

1. Citrix Receiver can be installed from XenDesktop iso or downloaded from Citrix web site. See Citrix eDocs to check how to install receiver using command line.

Configure Citrix Receiver

2. Once installation is completed you have two methods to connect to your new desktop. The first method is to use the full Receiver client, and second is to use web browser to access the StoreFront web site. I will configure receiver client. Launch the Receiver and enter address of your StoreFront server as it is shown in Figure 1.
Note: If you want to use email address to find StoreFront server, email discovery must be configured. See Citrix eDocs to see how to configure email-based discovery.

3. When receiver is able to find StoreFront server authentication dialog box is displayed. Log on using domain credentials.

4. Once authentication is successful you have an option to optimize your client configuration. Click Yes to continue.

5. When optimization process is completed successful message is displayed as it is shown in Figure 4. Click Finish to continue.

5. When connected the blank page is displayed. Click PLUS sign to continue.

6. When you click on the PLUS sign you will see the list of all desktops and applications that have been published (if you configure StoreFront with XenApp controlers all published applications will be displayed on this list as well). Click on available desktop to add it the Receiver landing page.

7. Click on the desktop icon to launch virtual desktop.  You should be automatically logged into your desktop without any additional authentication prompts.

8. When you are successfully connected you will see the Desktop Viewer toolbar at the top of the desktop window.

9. Click on the Desktop Viewer toolbar and select Preferences

10. Select Display to modify display settings

11. Select File Access to configure access mode to files on your computer

12. Click Flash to configure setings for content designed for Flash Player.

At this point XenDesktop 7 infrastructure has been configured and we are now ready to test virtual desktops.
